Privacy Policy

At ShipShop, we take your privacy seriously. That’s why we have crafted this Privacy Policy to ensure that your personal information is safeguarded and used responsibly. By accessing or using our Services in any way, you acknowledge that you accept the practices and policies outlined in this Privacy Policy and consent to us collecting, using, and sharing your information in accordance with this Policy.

Please note that your use of ShipShop’s Services is always subject to the Terms of Use, which incorporates this Privacy Policy. Any terms used in this Policy without definition have the definitions given to them in the Terms of Use.

Outline of the Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy outlines our practices for handling Personal Information that we collect or receive when you access or use our Services. We are not responsible for the practices of companies or individuals that we do not own or control.

Utilizing the Data

We collect a range of Personal Information from our users for the purpose of providing and optimizing our Services. This includes personalizing user accounts and profiles, enabling contact between users, fulfilling requests for products and services, and analyzing user behavior. In some cases, we may share some Personal Information with third parties, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Children Privacy

We take the privacy of our users seriously and do not knowingly solicit or collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13. If you are under 13, please refrain from registering for our Services or sending us any of your personal information. Should we discover that we have inadvertently collected any personal information from a minor, we will take immediate steps to delete it.

If you believe that a child under 13 may have provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@shipshop.ca.

Privacy Policy Changes/Alterations

We are always striving to improve our Services, so it may be necessary to revise this Privacy Policy periodically. We will make sure to keep you informed of any changes by posting a notice on the ShipShop website, sending an email, or using other means. Please be aware that if you have chosen not to receive legal notifications from us (or have not provided us with your email address), these legal notifications will still apply to your use of the Services and you remain responsible for reading and understanding them.

If you continue to use the Services after any changes to the Privacy Policy have been posted, this implies that you accept all the changes. The information we collect is subject to the Privacy Policy in effect at the time of collection.

What Data Does ShipShop Gather?

Data You Give Us:

We collect and store any information you provide to us knowingly. This includes, but is not limited to, Personal Information such as your name, email address, phone number, and third-party account credentials (e.g. for eBay, Amazon, Etsy, or other third-party marketplace integrations available through our Services). Please note, if you provide your third-party account credentials to us, some content and/or information in those accounts (“Third Party Account Information”) may be transmitted into your account with us, and that Third Party Account Information, such as your billing address, is covered by this Privacy Policy. Certain information may be necessary to register with us or take advantage of some of our features.

We may also communicate with you if you’ve given us the means to do so. For example, if you’ve provided us with your email address, we may send you promotional offers from other businesses, or email you regarding your use of the Services. Additionally, we may receive a confirmation when you open an email from us, helping us make our communications more interesting and improve our services. If you do not wish to receive communications from us, please let us know by contacting us at support@shipshop.ca or unsubscribing via the “Unsubscribe” button in our emails, if available.

Automatically Collected Informations

Whenever you use our Services, we receive and record information on our server logs from your browser or device. This data may include your IP address, geolocation information, device identification, cookie information, the type of browser and/or device you are using to access our Services, and the page or feature you requested. Cookies are identifiers we transfer to your browser or device that allow us to recognize your browser and track how and when pages and features of our Services are visited and by how many people.

You may be able to change the preferences on your browser or device to prevent or limit acceptance of cookies, but this could prevent you from taking advantage of some of our features. If you click on a link to a third-party website or service, they may also send cookies to you. This Privacy Policy does not cover the use of cookies by any third-party, and we are not responsible for their privacy policies and practices.

Please be aware that cookies placed by third parties may continue to track your activities online, even after you have left our Services, and these third parties may not honor ‘Do Not Track’ requests you have set in your browser or device. We use this data to customize content for you that we think you might like, based on your usage patterns. We may also use it to improve the Services – for example, this data can tell us how often users use a particular feature of the Services, and we can use that knowledge to make the Services attractive to as many users as possible.

Collecting Information from Other Websites

Through cookies placed on your browser or device, we may collect information about your online activity after you leave our Services. This information helps us to improve the Services and customize your online experience, as described in our Privacy Policy. At this time, our Services do not support the Do Not Track option, which allows users to signal that they do not wish certain online activities to be tracked over time and across different websites.

As a result, we will continue to collect information about your activity both while you are using the Services and after you leave.

Other Informations we Collect

We do not distribute your Personal Information in identifiable form to any third party, except as specified in this section. We may share your Personal Information with third parties in certain circumstances, such as in connection with business transfers. We take all reasonable steps to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with applicable law.

We may anonymize your Personal Information so that you cannot be identified as an individual and provide that data to our partners. We may also share aggregate usage information with our partners or allow them to collect such data from you. This will help them understand how people use our Services, allowing them to provide you with an optimal online experience. Rest assured that we never share aggregate usage or de-identified information with a partner in a way that could identify you as an individual.

We offer advertisers and/or merchant partners the ability to target their advertisements and promotional offers to a specific demographic. To do this, we may provide non-personally identifiable information to the advertiser. For instance, we may use your location to show you ads or offers from businesses in the same area, without disclosing who you are. Additionally, we may allow advertisers to display their ads to users with similar usage patterns to yours, though usage information is only provided in an aggregate form and not in a manner that could personally identify you. If you respond to an ad targeted at a certain audience or segment, the advertiser may assume you are part of that audience.

We may deliver a file to you from an ad network through our Services, known as a “web beacon”. This beacon allows ad networks to provide anonymized, aggregated auditing, research, and reporting for us and for advertisers. Additionally, web beacons enable ad networks to serve targeted advertisements to you when you visit other websites. Your web browser must request these advertisements and web beacons from the ad network’s servers, giving these companies the ability to view, edit, or set their own cookies, similar to if you had requested a web page from their site. You may be able to opt-out of web beacon tracking conducted by third parties through our Services by adjusting the Do Not Track settings on your browser; however, we cannot guarantee that third parties will comply with Do Not Track requests.

We have certain affiliated businesses with whom we may collaborate to provide you with products and services through our Services. You can recognize when an affiliated business is involved in such a transaction or service, and we will only share your Personal Information with them in relation to that transaction or service. As an example, we may enable you to automatically transmit your order details to a Courier to help them provide the delivery services you order. Additionally, we may provide integrations with certain marketplaces and selling platforms (e.g. eBay and Amazon) and we may share information regarding your transactions conducted via such integrations with the corresponding marketplace or platform. Please be aware that we have no control over the policies and practices of third party websites or businesses in terms of privacy or anything else, so if you choose to participate in any transaction or service related to an affiliated website or business, please review all of their policies carefully.

We partner with other companies and individuals to provide you with the products and services you require. To do this, we may need to share your information with them. This data is only used for the purpose of providing you with the service you requested and our agents are not permitted to use it for any other purpose. Rest assured, we take the utmost care to ensure your data is secure.

Business Transfers: We may explore potential opportunities for asset acquisition or divestment, and may share and/or transfer customer information in connection with such transactions. In the event of a corporate restructuring, such as an acquisition, bankruptcy, or change of control, Personal Information may be transferred to a third party.

At ShipShop, we are committed to upholding the law and protecting the rights, property, and safety of our employees, our users, and others. To this end, we reserve the right to access, read, preserve, and disclose any information we deem necessary to comply with applicable laws and court orders, enforce our Terms of Use and other agreements, or protect the interests of ShipShop and its stakeholders.

Are my personal details safe?

We employ the highest standards of technical, organizational and administrative security measures to safeguard any information we store in our records from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction. While we strive to ensure the utmost security, no company or service can guarantee absolute security. External forces such as unauthorized entry or use, hardware or software failure, and other factors may put user information at risk.

To protect your account, we employ a password for your privacy and security. Should you access your account via a third party site or service, you may be subject to additional or different sign-on protocols. To ensure the security of your account and Personal Information, you must select and protect your password and/or other sign-on mechanism appropriately and limit access to your computer or device and browser by signing off after you have finished accessing your account.

What personal data can I access?

You can access, edit, or delete certain information that you have provided to us through your account settings. This includes your name and password, email address, location, user profile information (such as billing and shipping addresses, customer addresses, and payment methods), as well as third-party account credentials. Please note that the information available for viewing, updating, and deleting may change as our Services evolve.

If you have any questions about viewing or updating the information we have on file about you, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at support@shipshop.ca.

Data Subject Rights

You have the right to choose what information you share with us. However, some information may be required to register with us or to take advantage of our features. If you wish to adjust your web browser settings to accept or reject cookies, please refer to our Cookies Policy for more information on our use of cookies and how to accept or reject them.

If you no longer wish to receive promotional or marketing communications from us, you can opt-out at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in the emails we send.
